Happiness: A Mindset, Not a Destination
In the hustle and bustle modern-day lifestyle, we are obsessed with happiness being something that can be achieved from reaching some kind of milestone or location. The general belief of the people is that once they achieved their goals (whether it was to get a promotion, buyahouse or travel)was when they finally would be happy. But, the truth is very different: happiness isn’t a destination — it’s an attitude.
A lot of happiness comes from how we see, think and feel about thing. Mindset is the lens through which we see and interact with our experiences in this world. The odd thing is that two people can both experience the same situation, but their reactions and emotions may be worlds apart. This discrepancy tells the truth: our happiness is not determined by what happens to us, instead it comes from how we choose to think and feel.
It simply means practicing gratitude, self-acceptance and mindfulness. You change your perception towards the moment by focusing on what you do have compared to what other things lack. Mindfulness activities ensure that you are rooted in the present and help relieve stress about what is yet to happen.
Furthermore, it is important to note that happiness is not a consistent state. The truth is that emotions are never meant to be static, everyone will feel sad or frustrated ranted along the way. Giving yourself permission for the emotional experiences means that they are able to be experienced, acknowledged and then put into perspective.
Another very important thing is the people you surround yourself with. Spending time around people who are supportive and positive can make all the difference in how you perceive things. It will help remind you that happy is something we are always in the process of becoming, not a place to arrive.
In the end, when you realize that happiness is a state of mind as well then it empowers to controlize your psychological health. When you adopt this mindset and diligently practice, soon enough a life teeming with joy will begin sprouting around the edges—spreading like wildfire regardless of what is occurring externally. All the power to be happy resides in you.
